yesterday , I saw an ad on YouTube, from a company called "dataannotation.tech" , they had in that ad, some people who claimed that they were getting paid for data labelling, I thought, this can be a good side gig, so I went to their website (app.dataannotation.tech) and I signed up, during the process of signing up , I was asked, to agree to their terms and conditions, so I decided to put their t & c to ChatGPT, and asked whether it was a legitimate company or not, to which gpt responded that it's a legitimate company but they have caveats around their terms and conditions, that can make them have everything in their favor, what surprised me, was that, this company (app.dataannotation.tech) is managed by Surge AI labs, which according to inc.com

"It’s a middleman that partners with tech giants like Meta and OpenAI by supplying contract workers who help refine AI tools before they’re deployed commercially."
Surge AI Is Being Sued Over Unpaid Wages, the Latest Legal Blow to AI Data-Labeling Startups

now things get dirtier when I find out they had to face a class action lawsuit in California, last year in May, 2025 and now they are putting their ads in countries like India to target Indians, and because Indian laws are weak and India does not have a proper workers law to protect them, they will be exploited even get unpaid work, this company is aggressively running ads in India , previously companies like Grok AI have also scammed people by asking to complete assessment to evaluate LLM outputs against web results, and were promised to get paid for the work, but this was a scam, this assessment OA, was itself a part of the main job, these AI companies are scamming everyone, left-right-center
