Is the regular-looking fire that warlocks hurl around arcane-based or something else?

Hi everyone,

I was searching for a more lore-solid answer to this question, but most of what I could find was speculation, and from non-RPers, who may not be as balls-deep into lore as some of us are.

And maybe this is one of those grey areas with no lore support that Blizzard created.

In that case, I'll reframe my question as: If I RP a warlock, and I really want to have the fire spells (suits my character who's rather explosive and angry), but I don't want the crazy demon shizz, then how could I most convincingly approach her use of fire?

I know I could technically say "It's just arcane energy", and that's fine, but in that case, I'm still grasping for what would make her a warlock as opposed to just a regular mage.

Basically: I want her to be a lock, I'd love her to know some of the shadow/affliction stuff and for her practice to be on the darker spectrum. But the most important to me is the fire, and I'm not, at least not just yet, willing for her to wield the pure fel green, hyper-corrupting stuff. Fel-tainted fire would be fine, but not pure fel fire.

An extra question: Whatever the verdict, if she'd wield that energy, what would other RPers who could sense auras and energies sense from her?

Big thanks for your help! I'm not super great with lore, and I just want to make this work for myself while not stepping on anyone's toes or doing something wrong.

“But if you're going to be a vegetarian, why do you make it look and taste like meat?” So many people ask me this shit in a gotcha-sort of way, like I've somehow exposed vegetarians as a bunch of hypocrits or posers by eating a vegan kebab pizza.

The reason is simple: That way, we don't have to invent an entirely new cuisine that takes decades to shape like the one our society has, for literally no reason.

I used to eat meatballs, potatoes, and brown sauce when I grew up. Now I eat veggieballs, potatoes, and brown sauce.

And some people are seriously thrown off by this. As if me doing that means I deep inside miss eating meat. No, I just like that meal, and veggieballs are fire.

Why should I stand there shaping something plant-like into a form never seen before, throw it into a pan and just pray to jesus that whatever I pour on it will make it tasty, just because you'll otherwise be offended that a meal you recognise doesn't have meat on it?

And I know, I know, some people will get upset over this and whine that "People aren't being vicious, they're just wondering, sometimes these questions are innocent" yadiya. I know. I'm not talking about those people, I don't judge people from being curious or wanting to learn. I'm talking specifically about the obnoxious, grinning gotcha-types that I described at the start of this post. But watch the comments flood with these "well actually"-people anyway because they can't read a reddit post.
