Anyone successfully pull off the “live in another state + 100% telework” dream? 😅
So I’ve been hearing whispers (okay, not even whispers, straight up conversations in the breakroom) that a handful of folks at my agency are living their best lives… in entirely different states… while working 100% remotely.
Meanwhile, I’m over here strategically planning my “in-office days” like it’s a military operation just to avoid traffic and awkward small talk.
I mean, let’s be real, if the job duties are the same, the benefits are the same, and the Wi-Fi works just as well in another zip code… what exactly is stopping the rest of us? 🤔
For those of you who have done it (or tried to):
Did you have to jump through a million hoops to get approved? Is it role-dependent, manager-dependent, or “know the right person” dependent? Any hidden downsides I should know before I start browsing Zillow in other states like it’s my second job?
Not gonna lie, the idea of keeping my job and losing in-person days permanently is sounding real tempting…
Would love to hear your experiences, advice, or even a reality check if I’m being wildly optimistic here.
