Smoking neighbor in a loft
I live in a building that is an old industrial unit that was constructed without ceiling the walls… They are big gaps and holes in the walls where there's pipes that go between the units… When I first moved in, I didn't think of these as an issue, I figured they were sealed or properly installed, but it turns out that I have smoke that infiltrates and the property between units.
I addressed the first time with the tenant and he said he doesn't smoke weed… So he actually smokes cigarettes. I figured that was enough to tell him not to smoke in the apartment because he could tell that smoke could go into my bathroom directly from his unit… So instead, I figured he would understand but apparently that's not the case so he continues to smoke inside the apartment and it's causing headaches and itchy throat and it's driving me crazy and I can't terminate my lease without paying $2500
I pay $1600 a month for 900 ft.² and a nice loft and they move someone in who smokes next-door in my bathroom constantly smells like cigarette smoke almost 3 or four times a day and it's getting on my nerves
I messaged the management to do something about it, and I also left a note on the guys door…
This isn't about even smoke going through the windows from outside. This is between units… The construction in this building is really bad.
