How do you handle maintenance communication with tenants? Do you notify them when work is scheduled?

Trying to understand how other PMs handle this. When a vendor is coming to a unit, do you proactively let the tenant know? How? Is that something your software handles or do you do it manually? Just trying to figure out if there's a better way to do it.

How do you handle customer communication between booking and showing up?

Trying to get a sense of how other people manage this. Do you call to confirm? Text updates? Just show up? I find this part of the job weirdly time consuming and wondering if I'm overthinking it or if others feel the same.

What part of the immigration process frustrated you most that nobody really talks about?

There's a lot of coverage of wait times and case status, but curious about the smaller, everyday frustrations - scheduling, tracking, communicating, staying on top of things. What took way more time or effort than it should have?

What's something about living in NYC that's way harder than it should be that you've just accepted?

Not venting about rent or the subway - more the specific friction points that never seem to get fixed.
Stuff where you've thought "there has to be a better way" but just adapted anyway. Appointments, permits, waiting lists, anything really.

What financial task do you still do manually because no app handles it the way you want?

Budgeting apps, bank alerts, spreadsheets - there's no shortage of tools.
But I keep running into things none of them quite cover. Curious what others are still tracking by hand or in a notes app because nothing else fits. What's yours?

What's something you've tried to automate in your business that no tool actually solves well?

Not looking for software recommendations - more curious about the gaps. What have you tried to hand off to a tool or service that just never worked the way you needed it to? Whether you eventually gave up and did it manually or found a janky workaround, I'd love to hear what the problem actually was.
