Reached out to a LC today because my 6 day old has had a superhuman latch and suckle since hour 1. Even the pediatrician noted that when she gave him a pacifier at his first visit. We had no issues latching, my milk is coming in fine, and I'm feeding every 3-5 hours as much as I can bear. (And supplementing with formula in bottles for weight gain and satiation). But the nerve pain is getting to me. Last two nights have been cluster feeding and I am gasping out in pain and dreading every feeding.

To be clear, this isn't about skin chafing or milk engorgement, this is about almost excruciating nerve pain when feeding. I've also tried silicon nipple protectors and they don't do much for the biting pain, because they are more to prevent chapping/chafing. I have also established a deep latch - the LC in the hospital confirmed it, so its not that either. Anyone else experience this? Or have any advice? I'm completely at my wits end and if I don't get clear on a plan forward I'll need to stop it entirely and switch to pumping I suppose.
