Also, I’ll likely need to take a loan if I go for B.Tech since there’s no college for it in my city, and I haven’t found any affordable options either. I’m turning 21 this year, so I don’t want to take another drop.

Right now, I’m considering doing a BCA from IGNOU and then an MCA through the NIMCET exam. But social media is making me anxious. Many people say a B.Tech from even a local college is preferred over an MCA.

I’m really confused. Should I take a loan for a management quota B.Tech? Are there any affordable colleges I can get into with just my 12th marks (79%)? Or would the BCA/MCA path be a better option for me?

I feel like I’ve messed up my life. I’ve lost contact with my friends over the past two years, so I don’t really have anyone to turn to for advice right now.

I’m in my 2nd semester right now. I really want to drop out but my parents won’t agree. I took a drop for J double E and scored 90% (non-EWS 8.5 per annual, general), so my parents didn’t even allow me to fill out state counselling (they refused to spend the money).

My parents are mainly scared of taking a loan, as B Tech is expensive everywhere (they already took a home loan, and now my father doesn’t want to take any other loan). There is no local college near my place, so I would have to take a hostel too.

My future seems bleak in what I’m doing right now. No one comes to college, so I’m not learning anything at all. I don’t go anymore either, as the teachers are really unqualified. I’ve been using Reddit a lot due to the free time, and everyone in non-Tech degrees seems to have so much regret. They say their monthly pay is equal to what people in tech earn in internships, and they’re extremely hopeless about their future as well (while their friends in tech are doing better, even with low initial placements).

I don’t think I can do an MBA either (8/7/? profile). From what I’ve seen, even in MBA placements, people in Tech are preferred (talking about placements, not admission diversity).

Can I take a loan myself to do the degree? Can you guys recommend a dirt-cheap college too 😞 Also, I can’t give entrance exams anymore since I completed 12th in 2024. I’m scared that private colleges will charge me more than normal fees because of this.

How do I convince my parents? They think B Tech is a useless degree because of what they hear in the news. I’ve really tried to convince them (even cried) and explain that what I’m doing right now is even worse, but they don’t listen.

I’ve been lurking on a lot of finance subreddits too, and they’re making me depressed because I can’t find anyone in a similar situation. Please help me. Also, will doing CSE after completing my BSc create problems in my career or placements?
