Approved but back pay lost
SSi found me disabled as of July 4th 2025.
For context I had an emergency brain surgery to remove a meningioma grade one tumor that formed after the birth of my first child last year. 11 hr surgery later I was put on medical leave for a year to heal, but an insurance agent came to my home to file a disability claim for me due to me being young and dealing with this major medical emergency as a new mom. I have nerve damage in my feet and legs, and short term memory loss because of where the tumor grew on the memory part of my frontal lobe. Ten months later I'm walking again with a cane, still suffer from migraines, and vertigo from fluid collection in my surgical area.
I received my award letter a few days ago, I called to confirm how the back pay would come and was told it was already mailed out. Almost a week and a half ago. Even better the office will not update my current address for some reason?? Letters keep going to our old address, we had to move closer to the neurology center for my MRIs. I'm just nervous that the check is lost even though they assured me it hasn't been cashed yet.
Has this happened to anyone else who has been approved? I have an appointment to be seen in person to update banking and all appropriate info here soon.
For those asking I have changed my address with the post office once we had moved, also I have notified SSi of address change twice. Somehow the letters are still bouncing to my old address.
