As the Creator and Lead Author of the Azure Ascendant universe, I am officially opening the series for manga adaptation. With seven volumes of the core story currently completed and more on the way—including the upcoming Volume 8, which provides deep world-building and lore—I am looking for dedicated creators to bring this brutal, comedic, and emotional world to life visually.
While I want to honor the immense effort required to illustrate a series "panel-by-panel," the following legal and creative conditions apply to maintain the integrity of my work.
1. Ownership & Intellectual Property (IP)
Retained Rights: I, as the Original Author, retain 100% ownership of all characters, lore, plotlines, world-building, and the "Azure Ascendant" trademark.
No Derivative Rights: The adaptation artist does not gain any ownership over the story or characters. They hold the copyright only to the specific artwork they produce for the manga.
Non-Exclusivity: I reserve the right to allow multiple artists or studios to adapt the series simultaneously. No single artist can block others from creating their own versions of the manga.
2. Financial Terms & Revenue
Profit Sharing: The artist/studio is permitted to retain the earnings from the direct sale of the manga they produce (digital or offline), as a reward for their labor and artistic craftsmanship.
Zero Collaboration/Brand Deals: The artist is strictly prohibited from signing any business deals, sponsorships, or brand collaborations using my characters or story without my express written consent.
No Sub-Licensing: The artist cannot sell the rights to the manga to a third-party publisher or media house independently.
3. Creative Compliance
Canonical Accuracy: The manga must remain faithful to the source material (Volumes 1–7 and the upcoming Volume 8). For deep lore and world-building mysteries, creators are expected to reference Volume 8 as the primary guide.
Attribution: I must be prominently credited as the Creator and Head Author on all covers, title pages, and promotional materials.
4. Termination of Agreement
Exit Clause: If an artist chooses to cease production, all rights to continue the adaptation remain with me. The artist cannot prevent me from hiring a new illustrator to continue where they left off or starting a fresh adaptation.
Note to Interested Creators:
The Azure Ascendant universe is vast, filled with "infinite species" and complex cosmic hierarchies. I am looking for someone who can capture the "Monster" nature of Jee-shahn and the elegance of the Divine Maidens.
