23, just shipped my first thing after years of ideas going nowhere. What helped you get your idea off the ground?

I've wanted to build something since highschool. I'm a year out of college with a Tech Management degree, working a job that grossly underpays me, and a list of ideas I've been sitting on for years without acting on.

Three domains bought. Nothing shipped. Until today.

I finally stopped waiting and built my first landing page for an idea I've been developing. No coding background, figured it out with AI tools. It exists on the internet now which is more than I could say yesterday.

Here's my situation: I don't have an audience. I don't use social media. I'm not surrounded by entrepreneurial people, most of my circle has a very different mindset and I've always felt like an outcast for wanting something different. I'm figuring this out as I go.

For anyone who started from zero with no network, no audience, and no technical background, what do you wish someone had told you on day one?

What actually moved the needle early on when nobody knew you existed yet?

Has anyone here placed air vending machines at gas stations or small businesses on a revenue-share basis?

I'm looking into installing newer card and coin operated air compressors at locations that currently have older or broken units. The model would be handle the install and maintenance, split revenue with the owner.

Specifically trying to understand:

  • What revenue splits are typical with location owners?
  • How frequent are maintenance and repairs in practice?
  • Why is this less talked about than ATMs and vending machines? Is there a reason people avoid it?
  • Biggest mistakes before starting?

I've done some research on suppliers and have a target location in mind. Just trying to validate the model with people who have real experience before moving forward. Thanks
