How long can shock lost last on untreated area?

I haven't really seen this question answered much on here. It's common knowledge a hair transplant can cause shock loss on untreated area, but everyone claims it returns around 2/3 months and should definitely be back by the 6 month mark. Is it possible however that it lasts longer for example up until the 1 year mark?

I have had a hair transplant myself and my crown was reasonably good being in the beginning stage of thinning but being unnoticeable. after the transplant the crown experienced major shock loss and became basically bald in a much larger area than before. This started improving from month to month but now at the 8th month mark i notice it's still more thinned out than i would have expected. Is it a possibillity it will still improve slightly up until the 1 year mark especially since my recipient area is also a bit see through still and not on full density results? Or did the transplant just accelerate my hair loss and is there no way back apart from medication which i still haven't started.

Can provide pictures if needed, but i'm mostly curios about the question how long shock loss can last on untreated area. I haven't really seen this discussed much on reddit, on another forum site they have said that 12 months is possible for it to improve but reddit surprisingly lacks discussion of this topic
