I need some advice!!
My baby is a month old and was born early term. She has developed a cough and has had this cough for a little over a week now. The cough sounds like it’s getting worse and sounds like a croup cough. I have told her doctor about it and the doctor keeps telling me that the cough is nothing and that her lungs are clear. Whenever she’s just resting you can hear the raspy noise in her breathing and the cough sounds like a barking cough. She is also not gaining weight like she should be. I was giving her 3oz bottles and doing a scoop and a half but doctor said that’s not always accurate to make a 4oz bottle for her but she just will not drink 4 ounces and I’m wasting the milk. Yesterday was the first time she spit up and she spit up three times and a lot of it so much that I had to mop it up off the floor so I’m thinking maybe she’s over feeding but she also spit up after coughing so much to the point she did spit up but the doctor claims the cough is nothing. I just don’t know what to do because I didn’t experience this with my first born. The cough clearly hurts her because she cries after she coughs and makes a face like she’s in pain. Idk what to do about her cough or her feeding. Do I just make 2oz bottles and give her the 2oz every two hours instead of 3? Or do I make a 6oz bottles and split it and save the other for the next feed? How can I advocate for my baby and the cough when the doctor says it’s nothing. I’m stressing out about her not gaining weight and this cough turning into something worse because the doctor isn’t listening to me.
