Never Thought This Would Happen
I run a catering style business and I rely on partnering with local small businesses around town to host events in which I cater for.
When running this business there are all types of business owners/managers I engage with to form a partnership to mutually benefit the both of us. Some of them are really mean off the bat, some politely decline, some string me along and bail, but a handful are very professional and we put on great events.
Now there is this one owner I’ve been working with for 6 months now and we have put on a handful of excellent events together. This guy was always so supportive and honestly went above and beyond to even promote me when he didn’t have to. We had a great working relationship and are in talks of putting on a big series of events for the summer coming up.
Well the brutal part is I have been in contact with him last month and we were talking about the mechanics of our next events and then nothing. He out of the blue stops responding to my texts. After a few weeks I call. No answer. I leave a voicemail. No answer. I thought maybe he damaged his phone or something. But I see he is actively promoting his business of FB and instagram. He even viewed a story of mine.
Just wanted to vent. It’s been over two weeks of radio silence from the one partner I thought had my back out of all of them. Just hurts to not get the decency of even a text saying he just wants to pivot and not do events anymore. And this kind of f’ed me because I was turning down other gigs because we had a big plan this summer.
I didn’t over leverage myself on him and I do have some stuff planned for the summer but running a small business is brutal sometimes from even your most trusted connections. Just trying to figure out what happened. I think I’ll send him one last email saying if I don’t hear back within a week I will assume all planned events are canceled.
