Hi everyone! I have found so much comfort in this group and wanted to share my experience for others as well.
I had my reduction on 4/28. My experience is a little different because I also had a lumpectomy and will eventually have a double mastectomy with DIEP flap reconstruction later in the year. My surgeon warned me my left breast might look a little different because of this and she wasn’t wrong. My left nipple looks a little off but here’s hoping it will settle looking more centered. If not, that can be corrected in the next surgery.
You can see I had a lot of extra skin from my before pic, mostly because I have lost a total of 70 pounds over 5 years. My nipples were basically pointing towards the floor and I was so self conscious about it. The day of the surgery, she marked me up and said that this was mostly a lift and skin removal but she would also make my breasts as small as she could as that’s what I requested. I am very happy with the results 4 days out and I know they will keep changing for the better. The worst I’ve experienced is a weird muscle spasm sensation when I get out of bed that started 2 DPO but I’m told it’s normal. Other than that, the pain has been manageable and I feel very lucky to have a supportive partner who has been so incredibly helpful through this journey.
I wish you all luck on your journey. Happy to answer any questions if you have them.
