Hi everyone, looking for some advice on a small side-yard garden setup.
I rent my home, and this side section of the house gets far more sun than anywhere else in the yard. It gets full sun from morning until around 3 p.m., so I’m hoping to use it for a compact vegetable garden, predominantly tomatoes, with some companion plants and possibly a few other vegetables or herbs.
Because I’m renting, I’m not very confident in the existing soil quality, and I also don’t want to do anything too invadive especially given the mechanical fixtures. I’m thinking of placing a raised garden bed directly on top of the existing soil/garden patch and filling it with good-quality soil/compost, rather than trying to amend the current soil from scratch.
Would this be a reasonable approach? I've attached photos for reference, if you have any better ideas I'd love to hear them!
