I think most of us in CRP have seen extreme volatility in RPMs and Additional Rewards since the Oracle acquisition, generally in negative ways. In my case, I had consistent Additional Rewards up until the end of February, and then as soon as March came around, they were gone, with the same kind of content. Some users on this subreddit reported the same thing, but I have yet to see any informed explanations — it seems to boil down to arbitrary algorithm bullshit.
(My content is not AI, is niche but regularly gets 20K-300K views, good engagement, retention, etc, for what it’s worth).
Anyway, I had pretty much given up on TikTok as an income source, but then suddenly on a video I posted on the last day of April, my additional rewards were back, and I got a $3.90 RPM. I was hyped to see this so I made a video in the same style the next day, which also got additional rewards, $2.60 RPM.
So of course I (cautiously) felt like the curse might be over, and began carefully making videos optimized to hit the same points as the first two, which were also very successful in terms of views and engagement. I’ve posted three videos since then, and all three have been without additional rewards — back to the $0.30 RPMs I was dealing with for the last 2 months.
Given this, I’m inclined to assume the Additional Rewards spike was an algorithm bug in my favor, but still feel like I should give up on this platform overall. I’m just curious if there are other similar experiences in the same timeframe, it would just be good to know if it was a systemwide thing, or have any more context.
