Hey yall, would appreciate your perspective.
My daughter plays U11 on a competitive local club. She is on the B team. She was formerly on an A team but we switched to a better club- which is totally fine with me.
Our team has been smaller and we have often had guest players. The coach has played all kids evenly and I would say rostered players get some priority over guest players (but nothing noticeable).
Our 2 best players have been asked to guest play with the A team for the rest of spring. They will be practicing with them 1-2 times a week and forgo practicing with our team on these days.
Here is my concern. Do you think it is fair to our team development and dynamics to have those players missing our practices? When we’ve had guest players from the A team they have never practiced with us. The dynamics have also shifted when we’ve had guest players. I can’t help but feel there are clear priorities here and it isn’t the B team or the B team development. If it was solely about numbers wouldn’t they rotate kids to guest play and not have the kids miss practice with their own team? (Like they do for our team when we need guest players which is every week). In a tournament 2 weeks ago those players guest played and we had 3 of their players guest play with us. They played their 2 games before ours and were gassed.
I know, I know, club politics are club politics. I’m not losing sleep over this but curious about perspectives here. My kid is on the B team and frankly wouldn’t be the top choice for being a guest player so I am not worried about that piece. More so the motivation here and the club’s priorities. Would love to hear your thoughts.
