Hey everyone, I know I’ve made some posts recently about gaming laptop shopping with this years leftover scholarship money, and need some help. Just to clarify, the amount of funds I have in my account is roughly 3115, but I am limited to the vendors that they have approved, and their devices they offer, plus all of these laptops regardless I’ll be having to pay money out of pocket (MSI Vector 16: ~150, Lenovo Legion 7i pro: ~350, Asus Rog Strix G18: ~450, Msi (don’t remember model, but most likely something not worth it for me): ~600). Now, I’m looking for something semi-portable, but also a desktop replacement, since I don’t have a desktop that I likely will be getting anytime soon. Now I’ve got four choices (last two are the hugest risk, since the system my scholarship uses will be shutting down the 29th, and the new one won’t be opening till the 1st of July, meaning I would have to wait, and run the risk of items being different, or just gaming laptops being completely out the door), which is either buying something now and taking what I get, waiting for something better to “maybe” be added in, waiting for Memorial Day weekend for a better deal (plus could possibly add in a expensive mouse like the Logitech g502 x plus light speed) but run the risk of them not approving it in time and then I have to wait till July 1st (could be completely new selection or just limited to education stuff), or taking the risk of their being nothing with this new platform/if there is I could wait till new funds load in (potentially being 6-7k plus) to get a 5090 laptop + peripherals (which I already will be getting next year regardless. I just need some major help guys, since I’m to ocd to pick something, and be firm on it.

I’ve been having the dilemma right now about if I should get a gaming laptop or pc, and wondering what to do? I mean, I know overall pc are way more worth it, but as someone who travels, I want something too that would be good to game all over with (not talking about during actual travel, but in hotels/apartments/airbnbs etc.), since while I am located in the U.S., I’ve got grandparents in Austria that we tend to visit at the minimum of one month at a time. Now, I also am very fortunate to do online school right now, and have my tuition and equipment be funded, and my balance right now is roughly 3114 dollars I can spend towards a device. This is limited for this year, but depending on how much classes I take, and there cost, I’ll get another minimum of roughly 3000 dollars at the low end for next year. Here comes the three options I have: 1. Get a Asus Scar 16 with the laptop 5080 now, and spend 350 out of pocket, so I can already have something, and buy expensive peripherals next year. 2. Buy a 5080 prebuilt now, but will likely pay the same amount over, and I won’t have anything to use to play on till August at the minimum (probably September). 3. Hold off my money till next year, and get a laptop with a 5090, but run the risk of them limiting the stuff I can get, and losing out on getting gaming anything. I’m realistically looking at the first option more, since I will be going to Europe again over the summer, plus I’m also planning on becoming an engineer, and this will basically be my workstation/gaming laptop/school laptop. Sorry this post is all over the place, I’m just wondering how good 5080 laptops are in general, especially the asus rog strix scar 16?
