Hi everyone,
I’m hoping someone here might have experienced this or can offer some technical insight.
I have an ASUS ROG Ally X (bought second-hand, under a year ago, working perfectly until now).
Yesterday I was gaming while plugged in (normal use). After about an hour, I noticed the battery wasn’t increasing anymore. Shortly after, I got the following system message:
“USB Type-C connection port temperature abnormal warning. System protection mechanism activated. USB Type-C port is disabled until the temperature has resumed to normal level.”
Since then:
The device has completely run out of battery
It won’t turn on at all
It won’t charge (no LED, no response)
Tried different cables/chargers
Let it cool for several hours
No visible debris in the port
Questions:
Has anyone else had this exact error on the Ally / Ally X?
Did the USB-C port recover after cooling, or did it stay disabled permanently?
Could this be just the port itself, or more likely a motherboard / power delivery issue?
Is there any way to reset the charging system if the battery is fully dead?
At this point I’m trying to figure out whether this is:
👉 a simple USB-C port failure
👉 or a deeper hardware issue
Any insight or similar experiences would really help before I decide on repair.
Thanks in advance 🙏
