5th gen v6 starter fuse
Symptoms
- no crank
- car still has power
- fuse 12 30 amp starter fuse blows when key is turned to crank only or when the starter relay was closed manually
What was checked
-if the fuse would still blow with all components of the circuit unplugged ( starter and alternator )
- continuity to ground on the starter signal wire circuit (none which makes no sense)
-checked pin fit and for corrosion/water intrusion at the UHFB
"Fix"
De pinned the under hood fuse box for the starter signal wire and ran a wire over lay. The car starts now with no issue and no fuse blowing.
This makes no sense because there was no continuity to ground on that wire and no visible wire chafing.
I am making this a post because it seems like it is a common 5th gen issue being posted about on forums and Facebook with no solutions ever being written about according to my research. Some people have replaced the UHFB but that was due to intermittent fuse blowing due to water intrusion.
