Hi guys, I’m new here and to car buying in general. I’m 22, graduated recently, and I’ve never owned a car but I need one for work. Nothing crazy, just something to get me from point a to point b that is somewhat reliable and won’t break the bank on insurance. My budget is about 16k. I’m okay to go a little past that budget, but want to avoid it if possible. Any recommendations? I’ve tried asking my friends but their parents/relatives gave them nicer cars so they keep recommending things that I feel like would be bad financial decisions.
I’ve done all kinds of research and it seems like my best bets (if I can find one in my budget) are Toyotas, Hondas, Mazdas, really any Japanese car. I’ve maybe done too much research because now I’m a little afraid to buy any newer Nissans given the CVT issues I’ve heard about as well as Kia’s because of the theft and vandalism that happens to them.
Any help or recommendations are appreciated.
