People complain about businesses closing but they haven’t stepped foot in them for years.
*this is generalized. I know people still go out*
This popular bowling alley officially closed last month but there wasn’t really much notice about it. The only way you’d really know is if someone told you or if you actually went there and saw the posted notices.
This is I think the 3rd thing to close this year alone in my city and these were things that when I was a teen, everyone would go there. Weekends would be crazy, every birthday party was there, and they were just the fun places to hang out.
I haven’t been to the bowling alley in about a year so I saw on IG that it close. Reading the comments everyone is like:
“no my childhood”
“this is so sad they are closing everything down where are we supposed to go now”
“it’s because of Covid”
Everyone complains about business shutting down but no one wants to support them when they are open. Restaurants are closing because we rather spend money on DoorDash. Stores are closing because we rather shop on Amazon. Parks aren’t being maintained because the kids don’t go outside. Attractions are raising their prices because ticket sales are low. Businesses can’t run on memories of what used to be.
If there is somewhere you really loved as a kid or teen and it’s still open, go to it and make it popular again. Take your kids out instead of letting them only go to school and home. Because when it closes, don’t complain and try to start petitions when those apartment complexes pop up all over town.
