I (39f) started having episodes in 2023 where my neck would hurt, I got diarrhea/ vomited and I just had to stay in bed for a day. This was irregular like every 3-6 months, then it started getting once a month. I seriously thought I’m just getting food poisonings.

Then once went to a massage therapist and he just said that my symptoms are migraine. After a quick Google it hit me: period migraines that are connected to my cycle . I get them when the estrogen levels are at the lowest!

Luckily I had amazing occupational healthcare a d was able to talk to a neurologist and a obgyn. Obgyn took me off my hormonal contraceptive and changed to something more suitable for my age. Apparently I should’ve been off that ages ago also because I have high bp!! I got:
-blood pressure medication
-progesterone pill instead of nuvaring
—> fixed it

I still get occasional neck migraine symptoms or start feeling like it’s coming but the neurologist prescribed medication that helps if I get any symptoms.
