Good afternoon I am 26M I haven’t had a Car in almost a Year had to junk it because of mechanical issues and been having to borrow family’s car to be able to go to work. When I did have a car I was under my parents insurance listed as a driver so it was cheap. I was able to save up a decent amount of money and been wanting to finance a Honda accord to commute to work. I have had 2 accidents one at fault from 01/2026 and one from 2022. I don’t have enough to buy the car cash but do want to put a big down payment so I don’t have to get a loan for a big amount I only want to finance around 12k and pay the rest out of pocket. Insurance with geico is quoting me 1,089$ a month wich is the cheapest I’ve been quoted so far. Besides the defensive driving course is there any tips or anything I can do to not have to pay so much a month? My car payment being way cheaper than my insurance is just crazy to me. If you have any advice I would greatly appreciate it. This has been stressing me out lately.
