So my question is about my 2nd floor, since it’s slightly offset (placing a middle hallway, which would go up to the roofline), and if I do a large beam across the middle on the first floor to support weight…. Is this terrible practice, probably outside dead load ratings?

Yes I know I’ll need to support weight upon length of the beam on the first floor. my question remains am I outside scope, since I’m basically straddling the upstairs to the roofline about 2’ on each side?
