Hi everyone,

I've been stuck with a Microsoft 365 issue for about 2 months now and im completely out of ideas.

What's happening:

Very time i start word (or any Office App), Microsoft 365 tries to update automatically and shows "Microsoft 365 and Office are updating, please wait". After that, the Office App start with this error:

- WINWORD.EXE - Application Error

"The Application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142). Click OK to close the application"

What i already tried:

  • Ran Quick Repair via Settings > Apps: Works temporary, after a few days the exact problem returns
  • Ran Online Repair via Settings > Apps: Tested multiple internet connections (LAN, WIFI, hotspot, colleagues hotspot) -> Internet connectivity is confirmed to be working -> Issue persists regardless of network used
  • Downloaded OfficeSetup.exe directly from the official Microsoft website
  • Tried to reinstall, but the installer fails with:

Couldn't install

"We're sorry, we cant continue because we weren't able to download a required file. Error Code: 30182-2016 (1326)

Important: It is NOT an internet problem

I tested all of the following:

  • Wired LAN connection
  • Home Wi‑Fi
  • Mobile hotspot (my own phone)
  • Mobile hotspot from a colleague

Same error every time. Internet connection is definitely working.

Additional notes:

  • Office seems to be stuck in a broken update / Click‑to‑Run loop.
  • Repair and reinstall attempts using the normal installer do not work.

  • I dont know if this matters but i have Microsoft 365 Enterprise- de

My Questions:

  • Has anyone else experienced this exact combination of "0xc0000142 + error 30182‑2016" ?
  • Is this a known Microsoft 365 update bug?
  • Is a full cleanup / complete removal of Office the only solution, or is there another fix?
