Do they grade on a curve?

I've seen people say that some Step 1 exams are likely harder than others. Does USMLE grade based on everyone's performance? Right now, we say about 58-60% is passing. But what if the average for a particular exam date was 55-56%?

What are your thoughts

Obligatory vent that Im a samsung messages user and I'm pissed about having to switch over to google messages. Anyway.

I've been trying to figure out how to send clear videos from google messages (yes, I send the videos directly from my gallery). I keep seeing online that there should be a toggle option to turn off that sends "semd photos faster". But I am not seeing it. Am I crazy?

This is not supposed to be depressing and Im not asking for advice. Just airing my thoughts out I guess??

I have always been a hard worker (like the rest of us). I know dedicated brings in doubt, anxiety, burn out, depression. But have any of you just "accepted' the idea that you might fail Step 1? No matter how much you study or how efficient you study.

A part of me feels like this is part of an internal grieving process and/or a way to avoid anxiety (like I will study and whatever happens happens--even if means failure. So im not going to kill myself in the process).

I guess I'm just trying to be realistic. Im still trying to pass and im doing uworld as much as I can, but idk. Trying to stick to reality.

Anyone else?

The question sounds dumb but hear me out.

I've lived in this townhome for 2 years. We're moving out to save money.

When we first moved in, it was clear that the landlord had not stepped into the townhome after the previous tenant.

  1. There was a cockroach infestation. Cockroach feces along the kitchen counter, dishwasher, in the fridge, etc. Living and dead cockroaches

  2. The walls were painted with a slightly different color to cover up what I assumed to be marks. These off-color paint jobs were in small patches and it's all over the townhome. I included a stairway picture. Along the walls you can see what I mean.

  3. Two of the shower doors were broken. The bathrooms were dirty.

  4. Other shit like a missing screen from a window, a toy that clogged a toilet, an entire TV stand left upstairs by the previous tenant (picture included).

I DO NOT think the landlord knows what our move-in state was like (until we complained). But I've heard they've been super picky (or the landlord has changed) since we moved in and they are holding security deposits for small reasons.

I wrote down on the walkthrough sheet as much as I could and took pictures where I could.

Does the landlord even have the capability of withholding my deposit if they themselves don't even know the state they left it in? They had to send cleaning crews, pest control, and maintenance multiple times just to have it in liveable condition.

Edit: we have not yet moved out. We have about 2 months left. My ultimate stance would be to go to small claims and ask for 3x whatever I felt was wrongfully withheld.

Thank you
