As a DFW agent, one of the biggest surprises I see with new Texas homeowners is the property tax bill. No state income tax sounds great until that statement shows up.
A lot of people don’t realize there are things like property value protests, exemptions, and different payment options depending on the county. It can be confusing if you’ve never dealt with Texas property taxes before.
