They heavily profit by banning people. Hang on for as long as you want, but when they inevitably don’t give you the time of day, delete every post and comment you ever made before you delete your account.

They keep everything you posted up for others to interact with…except you. By deleting EVERYTHING before you delete your account, you demonetize it. They will no longer have your content to make money off of.

They depend on people not making the effort to take the time and delete all their content before making a new account

This means reddit is now able to tell advertisers “new” people are making accounts, and “bad” people are being kicked off. in reality it's just the same banned users making new profiles over and over and over. It's the perfect scam, they make the ultimate ghost accounts.

They stay up forever, well until the OP deletes them, which is almost never.

They aren’t made by bots, so advertisers can be kept in the dark when it comes to reddit reporting fake "bot made" accounts to them. Ghost accounts are worth 0$ once advertisers and investors know they’re fake.

User made accounts that reddit turned into ghost accounts are worth thousands and thousands and thousands of dollars. They spend no extra money hosting the content, they don't worry about having to moderate those accounts since it’s impossible to post after they ban you, they were created as legitimate accounts, so reddit doesn’t have to disclose them to advertisers.

It's a win win win win for them and a lose lose lose lose lose for everyone else

if reddit didn’t have all those user ghost accounts, they would be worth a tiny fraction of what they are now.
