My family and I may be relocating to the Syracuse area this summer. My daughter is undiagnosed currently, but we are working on one. I myself was diagnosed with Autism and ADHD a few years ago, and wasn’t diagnosed as a child because I excelled academically in school. She seems to be following suit in that, as our current school didn’t want to evaluate her since academically she’s advanced, but they have made wonderful accommodations that have helped her immensely. It took so much advocating last year to make that possible. I’m looking for school districts in the suburb areas that would be supportive of accommodating her needs so she can continue to thrive. Our biggest fear of moving is how it’s going to affect her. She had a rough year last year until the school finally listened to me and started giving her OT and sensory breaks. I’ll gladly fight for her needs again, but would prefer a school who is understanding of neurodivergent children and their needs. Any advice and recommendations would be wonderful. Thanks!
