Surgeon opinions?
I’ve had pilonidal disease since I was 12. I have occasional mild abscesses that drain on their own. Never needed antibiotics or procedures but I’ve thought about getting the cleft procedure because it does hurt and itch and bother me and I’ve gone through periods where it’s flaring monthly.
I had an appointment with Dr Sternberg in SF and I was just…unimpressed. He didn’t ask permission to take photos, just spread my cheeks and took them with his assistant who looked like she was 12. It really bothered me. He complained to me about his veterinary bills (like really dude? You’re a surgeon), and told me my recovery might be tough because “you’re not a small girl”. Fk you I’m a 35 yo woman 5’5 170 and muscular?
He is the closest dr who’s qualified to do the procedure but his whole demeanor left me unimpressed and put off.
- Is it worth getting under the knife given my symptoms are mild?
- Has anyone had a better experience with another surgeon who does the cleft procedure? I need someone who’s not an absolute conceited a$$hole, no pun intended.
