I know a lot of you folks would disagree, but looking at the current dynamics and how each team is performing, if MI management realizes they need to trade for or buy a player who can replace Hardik as captain, it has to be Shubman Gill for several reasons:
The way he has progressed over the past few years has been terrific.
He is currently leading India in the Test and ODI setups.
He is young and hungry.
He still needs to prove himself in the T20 setup, both as a player and a captain. This could push his urge to prove a point, especially since he might still feel disappointed about his omission from the T20 setup.
He is one of those players who has been voice-shamed for having a feminine voice, but I think all of this will only make him stronger.
GT is not doing well this season, though Gill himself is in fantastic touch.
He is a solid opener.
