So for the last year I've been partaking in a MOTU marathon leading in to the film. I started with the original series, then POP, then New Adventures. I'm now into the 200X series. Quite a big observation I've made, although I did notice it a while ago but now that I'm watching the 200X series for the first time in a very long time, is that a lot of the character designs from the new film seem to be actually influenced more by the 200X series than the original. In fact, a lot more. Particularly in He-Man's overall look (the brown and the harness), Beastman, Trap-Jaw and even in Mekaneck. Also, the Windraider seems to look a more like its 200X counterpart than the original. Skeletor's throne (mainly the ornate snake-like staircase leading up to it) is also very heavily influenced by the 200X look.
