Fluid head tripod recs ~$3000
Hey! I want to buy a gift for my boyfriend. He’s wanted a fluid head tripod for a long time but hasn’t had to get one since he’s had access to them through school. I want to buy him one as a grad gift but was hoping to surprise him. I’ve poked around the subject and I know he was thinking he wanted a Sachtler that is in the 2-3k range but there are so many options! I don’t know much about this stuff except for what he tells me so any and all advice is appreciated. Mostly looking at the fsb 10 mk 2, fsb 8 mk2, or the aktiv 10t touch and go (or should I go a diff direction??)
That being said he does quite a bit of outdoor video work where he lugs his gear quite deep into the backcountry in all sorts of weather. Is there one of these that’s best for that?
Would it just be better to just wait and tell him to pick one? That just doesn’t seem as fun for him. Sorry if there’s already a thread about this price range fluid head rec!!
