I know I'm not the first one to bring this up since it’s currently a massive hot theory in the community, but looking back at these panels, I had to put this together and add my piece as a fan.
We all know the absolute tragedy behind his "death." He walked into the sea bound in chains, sacrificing himself because his PTSD made him believe he was the one who killed Sujin Kim (even though it was Taejin Cheon). He accepted the title of a monster and thought he deserved to die. But if the broken chain theory is true, he survived and chose to stay completely isolated in the wild because he was terrified of hurting anyone else.
This sets up the most perfect narrative parallel PTJ could give us.
Think back to when he was just a kid. His family abandoned him, he was left to die, and he washed up on the shore. That is when Mujin Jin found him, saved his life, and told him to "Try living."
Now, Daniel has just survived a massive fall and washed up in the exact same condition. If the rumors are true and the "monster" really is out there hiding in the wild, this is his ultimate full-circle moment. It's his chance to step out of the shadows, pull Daniel from the water, and become the savior for Daniel exactly like Mujin Jin was for him all those years ago.
Let me know what you guys think of the parallels!
