Just curious; does anyone know if the herbivorous dragons, like the Silk/Rainwings are herbivorous solely out of choice, or is it in part because they physically couldn't sustain themselves if meat were to be a regular part of their diet? It's been a while since I've read the books—I remember the rainwings simply not wanting to hurt animals, but I don't remember if there was anything about them physically having to eat plants. While I don't recall the silkwings ever eating meat, I do recall a scene where a maid makes meatballs, so I'm unsure if them not eating meat was a social status thing, a moral thing, or if they just didn't have the digestive system to process it.
