It’s a gorgeous New England day. The sky is perfectly blue with a few cotton clouds dancing in the sky. A light breeze kisses my cheek on the drive to the Sein and Skye Bloomhouse. It’s a 1700s colonial that once belonged to a captain in Mystic. As I enter the front door the perfume of fresh cut flowers meets me before my eyes see the arrangement on the welcome table. There are flowers in every room, cut from the flower farm on the property. I already feel home. This is my space; to relax, to release, to breathe, to remember what “me” feels like. It’s like coming to the family home I grew up in, timeless yet growing. Something for a couple to retreat to, a group of friends to reconnect in, a wedding ceremony, or bringing the kids for the weekend. We’re all making memories here. Painting in the workshop, strolling the flower fields, feet in the natural pool, meandering next to the brook that feeds the river. The river that takes all my stress downstream with it. The heights of my kids on the door jam to be compared on the next visit. Dinner is warming in the oven upon our arrival for when we’re ready and there will be cinnamon rolls to warm up in the morning.

My dream is to run a bed and breakfast with flower farm and event space. I have 20 years of experience in hospitality, with the last ten being a bar manager or assistant general manager. I’ve also operated a smaller version of this dream as a homestead with a STR on it. I love giving people a place to retreat to, to host and give space. I’m looking to set this up in the Litchfield Hills in NW CT, with several additional smaller satellite STR sites that share the same standard of care and inviting nature. As a queer woman my biggest goal is to create a community space for queer people and women (especially moms) to have a third space to rebuild themselves.

I’m looking for an investor to co-sign for a $350,000 business loan. No money, just a signature. For this I’m offering 5% profit share for ten years (years 2-12). With projected revenue between $200,000-$350,000, 5% profit share looks between $5,000-$10,000 a year. The business loan will be used for a deposit on a property, renovations, and operating capital for the first year. I’m also open to anyone willing to be an angel investor.
