Melbourne or Sydney? Apartment hunting

Hey,

Main point: is it worth me investing in a community in Sydney and buying a one bedroom here if I am not going to be able to afford it down the track (I.e., house or 3 bedroom apartment in Sydney). Should I move to Melbourne, a more affordable city instead?

So basically I have been in Sydney for 3 years and want to buy my first apartment to live in. I am 27F and would prefer not to spend more than 30% of my income on mortgage repayments, there for I’m looking at no more than 520k for a one bedroom (this is doable but harder to come across). I was in Melbourne and I could get a one bedroom in Prahan for 400k so I am thinking about moving there instead and restarting there. I prefer Sydney weather and the city overall but my biggest problem is should I invest in Sydney when I may not be able to afford it down the track and have to move cities eventually when I am in my mid 30’s or should I just move to Melbourne now while I am 27 and it is easier to make friends at this age and buy there and invest in my community there? I have moved around cities and just want to have good quality long term friends I can keep restarting.
