Hi all,
I’m losing my mind a bit with my new Sony WH-1000XM5 headphones. I have ADHD and autism, and my work recently bought them for me to help with overstimulation in our open-plan office, but the noise cancelling is… so bad??
I can still hear everything. People talking, laughing/cackling, random office noise - it’s all coming through like the noise cancelling is barely doing anything. I’ve got it turned on properly, they’re fitted right, and I’ve messed around with settings, but there’s basically no noticeable difference between having it on or off.
I did so much research on different headphones before settling on these, and considering how hyped these headphones are for noise cancelling, I’m genuinely confused. I was expecting them to block out most of the background noise, not just slightly dull it, and if anything, they’ve started to make things worse. Having music playing while I can still hear everyone talking over it is actually more overstimulating than just not wearing headphones at all.
Has anyone else had this issue? Am I missing something obvious, or are they just overhyped?
At this point my cheap Soundcore headphones are doing a better job, which is kind of ridiculous.
Any help before I fully lose it would be appreciated!! Thanks!
