$100,000 baby!!
I checked my roth this morning and finally broke $100,000! Feeling great.
Some info: 35M, all holdings in VTSSX with an "aggressive" asset mix of of 90% stocks/10% bonds. Account was opened in 2014 with a huge thanks to my dad who said he would contribute $1,000 if I contributed $500. So, $1500 sat there until I started working as a public school teacher in 2016. I was contributing a little bit for a few years, and then I have been maxing it out starting in 2018. Now I'm a father and I will definitely be setting up my kids when they're older like my dad did for me.
Mostly this is a set and forget account for me. I have payments automatically drafted every two weeks, except in a few cases when there were great buying opportunities. So, for example, I maxed out the rest of 2026 at the end of march when prices dipped.
Edit: Thanks for all the support! I’ve found others’ posts like this encouraging so hoping to pass that on. Some odd takes in the comments 😅 but gotta celebrate the wins. Thanks all!
