Delhi Police SI vs ASO CSS — Need Honest Advice

I’m really confused between two career options and would appreciate honest opinions from people who know about these jobs practically, not just on paper.

Last year, I got selected as a Delhi Police Sub Inspector (Delhi Police SI). Recently, in SSC CGL 2025, I got selected for ASO in CSS.

Now I have to decide which career path would be better in the long run.

Here’s what I understand so far:

Delhi Police SI — Pros

Uniform and authority

More field work and excitement

Better public recognition/social respect

Faster feeling of power and responsibility at a young age

Opportunities in investigation, special units, etc.

Extra income opportunities through overtime/security duties

Delhi Police SI — Cons

Very stressful lifestyle

Long and unpredictable working hours

Political/public pressure

Risk factor involved

Difficult work-life balance

Transfers and tough environment can affect mental peace

ASO CSS — Pros

Central Secretariat posting (mostly Delhi)

Better work-life balance

Fixed office timings compared to police

Cleaner and safer work environment

Stable long-term career with decent promotions

Good for preparing for other exams/upskilling alongside job

ASO CSS — Cons

Less public recognition/status compared to police uniform

Work may become repetitive/desk-oriented

Slower pace and less excitement

Promotions can take time unless cadre restructuring happens

About me personally:

I’m 25 currently.

Part of me likes the authority/adrenaline of police service.

But another part of me also values peace of mind, stability, and long-term lifestyle.

I also think about future family life and mental peace.

People who have worked in either department or know ground reality — what would you choose and why?

Especially asking about:

Long-term career growth

Quality of life

Stress levels

Promotion prospects

Financial side overall

Satisfaction after 10–15 years in service

Would genuinely appreciate mature guidance.
