hi! I'm going to rush for a sorority in the spring (please please don't leave any mean messages under this, I know this sub isn't a fan of greek life) and I was just wondering if anyone knows how hard the process of getting a bid is. i would say about 18/22 sorority houses i'd be fine with and love to be part of, but I heard IU rush is brutal, and many of the houses don't take many people. Additionally, I've been getting kind of worried recently because (1) I'll be a sophomore in the spring, and sororities tend to prefer freshmen (2) i have ultimately no connections to anyone in greek life and (3) i have a friend who's super outgoing, sociable and attractive and she got her last pick for sorority houses, and got dropped by the rest, which i found very surprising. was just wondering if anyone had any insight they could possibly share! thanks!!!

This might be a dumb question but in 1x09, Rory’s Dance, Rory asks Dean if he’s ever seen the movie and compares herself to Ponyboy.
RORY: I mean, it’s just a dance. What’s the big deal?
DEAN: Beats me.
RORY: And these kids at my school – awful. Have you seen The Outsiders?
DEAN: Yeah, I have.
RORY: Just call me Ponyboy.
What exactly does she mean by this? That she feels like an outsider and different from the rest like Ponyboy? Because I always saw Ponyboy as someone who felt less of a character that feels different from the rest, and more of a sensitive, artistic character, which Rory doesn't exactly embody. Curious to hear your takes!
