I was called this morning by my supervisor about an hour before I was supposed to be at work. He had neglected to let me know we were coming in early so I quickly packed my things and got to work.
When I showed up my co-worker(we’ll call him John) made a remark about me being late to which I said “No one said that we were coming in early today” He replied by saying “Well maybe you should have asked the owner, since apparently you’re a boss now” Not at all joking, no smiling. We have joked around in the past about him calling me the boss because I had to barrow his keys once to open up the shop so he would say “Well you’re the boss now” It only has started to bother me recently because he says it so much that it doesn’t feel funny.
Last Friday I went with the owner to go look at bids and help him out which is what my co worker John usually does. So this time the tone sounded like more of a jab than a joke. When we stopped at the job site I decided to talk to him and let him know it’s bothering me.
I approached him and said “Hey man I would appreciate if you cut out the whole boss thing” and then he fired back saying how I approached him all crazy in the morning and that if I want to start something we can start something. I replied saying that if I came off as rude that’s my bad but what are you talking about start something? He then proceeded to call me a bitch saying I was butthurt and that we would say the same jokes to him.
I asked if it bothered him and he just ignored it and kept going saying that I should grow a pair of balls and talk to the foreman if I had a problem with not being told we were coming in today. Finally I just said you know what whatever and walked off while he muttered under his breath something about me being a child.
Currently working to find another job soon because what the actual fuck???
