Hey everyone basically title. I'll go into more detail with the quirks it has and maintenance I've done. Im about to graduate community college and transfer to university and just trying to decide if its worth keeping another ~2 years or sell for something else.
2003 3.3l v6 RWD automatic 222k miles
Issues with it: This doesn't happen often but if I slam the brakes it'll stall on me. For example I'm coasting at 20mph and a squirrel runs across the road and I slam my brakes, the engine will shut off, I'll have to turn the key off and on to get moving again. I think its brake booster or vacuum leak
Also reverse gear will sometimes dissapears on me. Like every couple of months, about every ~5. But I just top it off with trans fluid and its back to normal (not sure if its signs of trans failure or trans fluid leak)
Oil leaks: rear main seal and valve cover gasket. Both are pretty serious I think, I have to top it off with a quart about every 2 weeks (more often if i drive long distance). Valve cover gaskets also cause a burning smell when im at a stop light.
Obd2 scanner codes:
P0420: Catalytic Converter Functional Malfunction
P0400: EGR System
P0430: Three Way Catalyst System - B2
P0327: Knock Sensor/Circuit B1
P0328: Knock Sensor/Circuit B1
Other than that its been a joy to drive the last 6 years for me. Has been incredibly dependable. I've done quite a bit of maintenance within the last 1-2 years:
New toyo tires
Kyb shocks
Battery
Spark plugs
Air intake hose
Egr valve
Tps sensor
Not sure if its should do some more maintenance to get some more life out of it or part ways. I was thinking of doing timing belt/tensioner, accessory belts, valve cover gaskets, water pump & fan clutch, and knock sensor. My mechanic can do it for less than 700 and i already have parts. Much better price than normal shop. But yeah thats where im at with it, hoping yall can share your thoughts on it. Thanks yall!
