Long story short, my brain is stuck in an Analysis Paralysis loop in my current game and was hoping someone could help me break it. I started as Hroflr and wanted to do more of an RP run on ironman. I took Normandy, swore fealty to France, became Christian, and changed my name to Rollo. I then spent my fortune on upgrading the duchy of Normandy.
I went down Learning tree and got sanctioned loop holes and began taking Anjou and Orleans to hand out to my kids so Normandy wouldn't get split up. Before I knew it, I was able to claim my liege's title of West Francia. I thought to myself, my character is Arrogant, why shouldn't I sit on the throne. So I took it, called in my Allies, and easily stomped my liege.
Now I have the throne of West Francia (Aquitaine is held by my previous lieges brother), and I get the event that popped up saying it will now be known as France since it is not held by the Karlings. As a Norman, I was thinking about converting all of West Francia to Norman culture as renaming it Normandy instead. It was renamed France to match the fact that French people live there. So I figure if I convert every county to Norman then it should be called Normandy. I moved my Capital to Paris since it is more centralized to all my De Jure Duchies and has greater potential then Rouen. However, my brain can't decide what to do now and is stick in an AP loop.
I feel off calling it Kingdom of Normandy when the capital isn't even in Normandy. I also think it is strange using the normal Coat of Arms for France since it is based on the Capetian Dynasty. I could change it to the twin lions of Normandy, but then the duchy of Normandy, which isn't even my capital, would share the COA. I tried doing some designs to try and combine the twin lions with the fleur-de-lis, but it always looks so crowded on the Coat of Arms.
I know my brain is just being stupid and crazy, but for some reason, I can't come up with a solution that sits right with me. It has brought my otherwise fun play through to a halt after I spent four hours messing with Coat of Arms and what not. I thought about moving my capital back to Normandy, but can't as the game won't let me move it more than once and I already moved it to Paris. I could wait until heir takes over and move it back maybe? But I really like Valois as a duchy considering I am Norman and will have lots of Conrois.
Any help or advice would be appreciated!
