Updated Chapter 1 review

Chapter 1‘s rewrite brings changes and additions that help to add more clarity to the exposition of the story and helps set up for future chapters by setting up mysterious figure at the start and end of the chapter, building him up to be the main villain.

TLDR: Mysterious figure is more present to add to his development of being the main villain, cruel king still descends to paranoia after seeing the visions and more clarity around the start of the story to do with mysfig and builderman

New Story:

The rewrite aims to shift the focus towards mysterious figure to make him a more central threat, with him recruiting noobador to get him to kidnap builderman and steal the illumina, leading to shedletsky recruiting the player to get the swords before mysterious figure can. The path to cruel king is relatively the same, with him now descending to madness and paranoia due to the visions that he is receiving of his kingdom being doomed to fail ceasing to exist in the future which makes him fight the player, leading to his death. The chapter ends by increasing Mysfigs power, he has Leer and an army of guests now to get the swords for him now.

Changes:

Chapter 1 plays out pretty much the same way, it still goes pretty fast. A slight difference is the visions instead of the voices which work the same way as they did with the voices for cruel king with both of them making him act out of paranoia and acting irrationally due to the fear of his kingdom collapsing in the future. Another big change is the increased presence of mysterious figure who is being set up as the main villain here as we now know of his motives of collecting all of the swords for power, to rule over Robloxia.

Verdict:

Rating for chapter 1 is 5/10: it’s mostly still a decent chapter but the main improvement is the increased presence of mysterious figure, with him seeking power by collecting the swords to take over the world. I do like how there is more clarity around mysfig and builderman at the start as this wasn’t that well addressed before the rewrite, so chapter 1 is better in setting up the stakes in this regard than before. i do also like that he is getting more initial development compared to the main villain before (hatred and the voices) which didn’t have any initial explanation by the end of chapter 1. This initial development will help for later chapters.
