Taking a step down after having Kids

Hi all,

35yo dad here with a total of 15 years of experience across Big 4 Accounting, Fin control and FP&A with 2 years of recent management experience as a senior FBP/Fin manager with 2 DRs. Companies range from large international to big national listed companies.

The family “CEO” (aka Wife) and I are expecting our 2nd and the age gap is pretty close (2 under 2).

I was just wondering if anyone’s ever thought of taking a step down after having kids, at least until their youngest is a bit more independent (3-4 years old)?

If you have, has this hurt your career in the long run?

Finding it hard to juggle the demands of being in a managerial position in a fast paced environment and the family.

Work days are usually around 10 hours with 2 hour commute times. Working about a half day over the weekend during busy periods is also not uncommon.

Thanks all!
