i got my jaw splint today n im a bit afraid
I am a 20-year-old living in Korea who has been suffering from TMJ. I have had this condition since middle school, so it has been about 4-5 years now
To get straight to the point, I am worried about what long-term changes the splint might cause to my face. I have been reading posts about this for the past few hours and have seen comments saying that people's faces have become longer or uglier. My doctor told me that my left joint is already significantly worn down, and my jaw is visibly rotated to the left. Because the joint is already so worn, I hardly hear any clicking sounds, but I still get a strange sensation when I open my mouth. I do not want anything more than to simply return my jaw to its original position. I would like to hear from those who have worn splints for a long time and am curious about how it affected their faces.
