I was bequeathed this bronze statue that I was told my great-grandmother acquired in Paris. It arrived to me in rough shape (legs wiggling, clock broken, etc). However, this white fuzz is taking over. I desperately want to care for it correctly, but I’m worried I’m failing.

I tried spot-testing a commercial bronze cleaner on a small hidden area, and it sizzles/fizzes immediately – which makes me worried it’s too harsh or that the metal is reacting badly. I’ve looked for local professionals to hire with no luck.

I’m afraid to continue with the bronze cleaner and damage the piece.

Any tips?
