I need to be vague because we have a lot of Reddit users at my company lol but I’ve been in recruiting around 4.5 years for the same company since university and used to love my job. I truly had so much pride bringing people into the company due to the culture, our flexibility, our understanding of market standards, our mission statement, our products and so much more. I was all in and would have done anything for this company.
But over the past year or two leadership changes have led to unrealistic expectations, impossible KPI’s, high turnover, flexibility cuts, minimal training for new hires and frequent burnout. Me and other employees are dealing with constant pressure, nitpicking criticism, unclear and constantly changing direction, it’s to the point that I genuinely feel guilty hiring amazing people and bringing them into this sort of culture where people just aren’t happy to be there. It’s making me question both my role and whether I want to stay in recruiting at all.
For anyone who’s been in a similar spot:
* if you stayed even when you saw the red flags of your company deteriorating, what was your experience?
*if you left the company but stayed in recruitment, how was your experience working in recruitment after? Were you able to fall back in love?
*If you left recruitment, what kind of positions did you find success and happiness in? Would really appreciate any advice or experiences!
